Hard to believe, but we are in the 4th marking period. This year has really zoomed by. I have been talking to my students about finishing the year strong. It is very easy, this time of year, to ease up and let school work go. I have been stressing the importance of maintaining good work habits and continuing to be an active learner. In this last marking period, in literacy, we are focusing on informational writing. The students are learning all about "Westward Expansion". They will be writing an informational essay as well as an informational book on the topic.
In social studies, the final unit discussed is "The Early Colonies". This is a perfect connection to our Literacy Unit.
Students should be reading independently each night for at least 15-20 minutes. Please be sure to check your child's folder for important notices and classwork.

      Sincerely, Mrs.Stoddard
