March is upon us and Room 39 students marched right into Non- fiction books. Students are learning how reading Informational text can be different from reading a Novel. They are learning to recognize various Non Fiction text features and to use these features to help them learn.
Many of the students completed the Six Flags reading challenge and will be awarded a complimentary ticket for admission to the Six Flags theme park. Likewise, students who participated in the Devils reading challenge have already received their certificates that can be redeemed for complimentary tickets to a NJ Devil's hockey game. Congratulations to all for continuing to read independently each night.
Please continue to have your child read each night at least 20 minutes. It can be anything they choose. Let them curl up with a good book, a funny comic magazine , or even the newspaper to catch up on current events. Make sure they are completing the Reading Log. I will forward you information as I receive it on the program. Thank you for your support.
